With the first two months of the New Year almost behind us, now is a great time to revisit the New Year’s Resolution that many of us made this year to be more fabulous this year. By this I mean that we have promised to lose weight and look better, not just for the sack of vanity, but so that we feel better too. We all know that there are two important points to consider when trying losing weight: diet and exercise. As far as exercise goes, most doctors recommend that we get an average of at least 30 minutes of moderate to rigorous exercise daily. This can include anything from running, to weight lifting, to biking on your favorite trail. Equally important though is what you eat. Sometimes it can be difficult though to know what to eat. And even if you do know what to eat, it can be difficult to plan what you are going to eat. There truly is a science to food and its affect on the human body and in order to get maximize the results of your exercise, you must know what these affects are. In the 18th century, Dutch art began to show the influence of the then immensely popular French rococo style. Color palettes were muted and delicate, lines were softly curving. Objects in still life were depicted in a fanciful, rather than strictly realistic, manner. The tapestry wall hanging, Bouquet Arabesque, is an attractive example of this romantic form. An urn of flowers sits in a niche in the wall decorated by a bas relief of a fruit garland. The undulant blossoms spill from their container. The tones are predominantly pastel, with contrast provided by the deep green of the foliage. For all its softness, this tapestry has a grand presence and would stand out even in a large room. I love fresh salsa and I love growing the ingredients. What I have not liked is that it takes a lot of chemicals and a lot of water to grow the ingredients. I started to feel guilty about using chemicals and so much water when there’s such emphasis on cleaning up and conserving so I started researching ways to garden a little greener.
