New Era of Voice Singing Software for Vocalists
Singing software has been around for more than thirty years with a wide variety of applications, primarily in the music industry. Recently singing software has expanded from professional studios to use in private home studios of vocalists and vocal coaches. The voice singing software of today, offers training modules that literally train a vocalist to sing on pitch. Other components of the software provide spectral analysis that is useful in mapping tone quality. And, among simpler tasks the software runs a singer through a regimen of exercises to improve over vocal strength and dexterity.
Voice singing software goes beyond previous types of software that attempted to replace the voice teacher. The voice teacher always maintains an important role in any of these software voice programs, if the student can afford the lessons. If the student can not afford the lessons, many of the programs offer a reasonable basis for develop basic vocal skills. But, voice singing software offers something new that voice teachers have been unable to provide. The software provides real time biofeedback to the singer which reinforces them in singing on pitch. While a vocal coach could offer suggestions and tips, it was impossible for the singer to grasp the full extent of their pitch errors. Now they can see in black and white exactly where their pitch lies, and the program trains the vocalist to improve.
