I recently lost my job as a graphic designer at a small advertising agency. They were very kind to me; I received a generous severance package. Now it was time for me to make my own way in the world. I purchased a 12×20 metal building. I had collected junk chairs and windows for years with the idea of doing something creative. Now I planned to make decorative pieces. The special features of this building were the selling features. It has 1693 cubic feet of storage so none of my materials need to be in my house. The sliding door at the back makes great air circulation and I can pull my truck all the way through.

I looked at several different kinds of tin sheds and I chose this metal building. My goal is to have shows by invitation only at my home so that I can showcase my work in the building. I am excited about my new career. All my fine arts background is suddenly bubbling over and I am looking forward to a whole new life!

The Hunt of the Unicorn is a seven-part series that features a group of hunters and noblemen chasing after the unicorn. This European tapestry was said to have been requested by Anne of Brittany to celebrate her union with then King of France, Charles VIII. John Rockefeller, Jr. eventually bought this work of art in 1922 from the La Rochefoucauld family from France, who owned it for several centuries, for the exorbitant amount of around $1 million. In 1937, Rockefeller, Jr. donated the artwork to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA, where it remains on display to this very day.

Aside from representing the virtues mentioned in the wall decor above, the unicorn would also sometimes represent Jesus Christ himself. This acquired symbolism gave the Unicorn a revered place in medieval European society, making it a popular subject of the many different works of art that were produced during the said time period. One particular art form that often made use of a unicorn as its subject matter is the decorative wall art known as the tapestry. Unicorn tapestries became one of the most popular works of art produced during the medieval ages.

It’s stylish, comfortable and fits my requirements in home decor the most. This rug is hand knotted and measures 3′ x 5′, (3′ 7″ x 4′ 11″). It is made up of wool, which has a cotton base. It’s durable and doesn’t require heavy duty maintenance. It arrives in seven weekdays from the time it is shipped. It offers one hundred percent satisfaction guarantee and could be returned within fourteen days and exchanged in thirty days.

A rug is defined as “A piece of thick, warm fabric, skin or fur used as a coverlet, carpet or lap robe” or “A heavy fabric used to cover a floor” or “An animal skin used as a floor covering.” When we talk about area rugs the first thing that comes to our mind is that it is attractive and will work well in our decor at home or the office. It helps us to keep our surroundings clean. I have seen rugs being used in different environments like house, office, hospitals and many other places. I had just started a boutique of my own and wanted every thing in it just right and to look very stylish. This was the rug, the Bakhtiari Persian rug that I chose. I love it.

What’s really cool about bonsai trees that live in your house is the very, many types of trees and plants you can choose from. There are sub-tropical or tropical shrubs, trees and plants. But you won’t find many quite like this Dwarf Black Olive Pre-Bonsai. It has leaves that are quite unique, long, dark green and rather leathery and if you’re looking for a unique gift idea to send to a special Southern Gardener on your list this tree is a great choice because it’s a real heat lover.

In spite of it’s appearance, like most indoor bonsai trees you won’t want to let it ever go dry. Water it when the top inch of potting medium feels dry at the touch. Because this tree won’t tolerate temperatures below 45 degrees you’ll want to make sure that you find a hot sunny spot in the house for it long before it gets cooled, but be sure to summer it outside. When it cools off a bit in the winter, it’s not at all unusual for this tree to drop a lot of leaves, but come the spring – sit it out in full sun, fertilize it well and the leaves will come back. This bonsai will be shipped in its training pot – 6 inches and when you’re training it, just keep an eye out for the thorns.

I hadn’t thought of using a garden arbor to beautify our backyard. I changed my mind after I saw a gorgeous arbor during a local garden tour in out city last year. It was a white wooden structure that served as whimsical entrance to long path through a large flower garden. Honeysuckle vines were climbing all over it to create a magical and sweet effect. Since our small backyard seemed lackluster and neglected, I was ready to get to work on solution. I was determined to quit my whining and moaning about our boring yard.

The first thing I did was research as much as I could about the subject. I discovered the beautiful pergola, which forms an arbor-like tunnel. When they are covered with vines and flowers they look like something out of your favorite storybook. They add such a great feeling of depth, imagination and history to a yard or garden. I really wanted one, but it would have required a lot more space than we had. Our final choice was a simple cream colored vinyl garden arbor. We placed it in the left corner of the yard to create a quiet meditation space. As I write this, I’m sitting on a garden bench admiring the beautiful morning glories that have just begun to bloom.

Children wouldn’t be children if they didn’t get messy. In any daycare center children are expected to run, fall, get muddy, spill food on themselves and just get dirty. This is why it is important to make sure they get cleaned regularly. Having portable sinks in daycare centers would make it easier for children to stay clean. If a child has access to a close and easy-to-use portable sink he or she will be more likely willing to ‘wash up’ without making a fuss.

The portable sink’s ability to automatically turn on makes it faster to clean, especially since portable sinks can be put indoors as well as outdoors. Having a close-by portable sink can motivate a child to wash his or her hands regularly. Good habits are formed quickly. This also prevents bacteria and germs from spreading. However it is important to make sure the water is replaced and cleaned frequently. Portable sinks are also safe because they come with a security locks. Getting portable sinks in daycare centers is a quick and easy action that has a long-term impact!

In the 18th century, Dutch art began to show the influence of the then immensely popular French rococo style. Color palettes were muted and delicate, lines were softly curving. Objects in still life were depicted in a fanciful, rather than strictly realistic, manner. The tapestry wall hanging, Bouquet Arabesque, is an attractive example of this romantic form. An urn of flowers sits in a niche in the wall decorated by a bas relief of a fruit garland. The undulant blossoms spill from their container. The tones are predominantly pastel, with contrast provided by the deep green of the foliage. For all its softness, this tapestry has a grand presence and would stand out even in a large room.

Bouquet Arabesque is one of the Floral Tapestries that are part of the European Floral Tapestries at Decor4u.com. They can be found in the Tapestry Shop. The hanging has been woven in France from a fine blend of 50% wool and 40% cotton. It measures 44 inches wide and 58 inches high and may be dry cleaned. A sewn rod pocket allows for easy hanging.

I love fresh salsa and I love growing the ingredients. What I have not liked is that it takes a lot of chemicals and a lot of water to grow the ingredients. I started to feel guilty about using chemicals and so much water when there’s such emphasis on cleaning up and conserving so I started researching ways to garden a little greener. I discovered the Orcaboard 4 x 8 x 2 Raised Bed Garden Kits and they have been the perfect solution. They are affordable, very easy to snap together and environmentally friendly. They don’t need to be painted or stained, the veggies require less fertilizer and bug resistant chemicals because it takes less water to keep the garden patch the right degree of moistness.

The Orcaboard raised bed is also designed to accommodate a top rail that makes it comfortable to sit on the edge of the bed while gardening so there’s no bending or kneeling. You should see my pretty rows of Cilantro, Onions, Peppers, and Tomatoes. I believe I’ll add another raised bed to grow flowers for my wife because I read that the combination of some flowers and veggies eliminates the need for some insect repellents.

We have a very contemporary décor in our living room and while I do love it, I must admit that at times the clean lines look stark and the clear whites and off whites look cold. I was wondering what I could do that would add a vibrant accent to the room and yet not detract from the style we have so painstakingly created. The room also features a very large brick fireplace which spans almost an entire wall. Because of the size, we painted the bricks an off white shade and as it turned out, this is where I found the opportunity to bring a dramatic accent to my living room in the form of a beautiful butterfly stained glass fireplace screen.

It’s a three panel screen made up of 248 individual pieces of stained glass. The overall feel is one of the soft greens of leaves and green granite colored stone and glass with highlights of yellow and a the deep red they used for the blooms. The three panels span 40 inches and the screen stands 34 inches high. It’s not the kind of screen that you can use when the fireplace is lit. Stained glass will not withstand that kind of heat, but it’s a wonderful example of decorative stained glass and it has succeeded in bringing my very fashionable but rather lifeless living room to life.

Making a statement is easy with fence post caps. Because of the sheer variety of styles and materials, the perimeter of your yard or garden can be an extension of your personality, and say a lot about you, the master of the domain. Post caps topped with copper are a classic statement of refined taste, while sculpted cedar post caps speak to your sophistication and subtle, understated design sensibilities. But regardless of the choice you make when topping off your fence posts, the fact that you have chosen to use caps at all says volumes about you and your desire to finish the job.

Fence cap designs are as varied as the owners, ranging from metals, stained glass, to various woods. From sleek and modern contemporary to showy and indulgent French neoclassical. No matter how you’d like to go, there is a fence post cap with your name on it. Oh yes, literally, if that’s your thing. And as far as garden ornamentation goes there is perhaps nothing as personal and as satisfyingly unique as finding and installing a fence cap that completely expresses your aesthetic personality.
