We have a very contemporary décor in our living room and while I do love it, I must admit that at times the clean lines look stark and the clear whites and off whites look cold. I was wondering what I could do that would add a vibrant accent to the room and yet not detract from the style we have so painstakingly created. The room also features a very large brick fireplace which spans almost an entire wall. Because of the size, we painted the bricks an off white shade and as it turned out, this is where I found the opportunity to bring a dramatic accent to my living room in the form of a beautiful butterfly stained glass fireplace screen.

It’s a three panel screen made up of 248 individual pieces of stained glass. The overall feel is one of the soft greens of leaves and green granite colored stone and glass with highlights of yellow and a the deep red they used for the blooms. The three panels span 40 inches and the screen stands 34 inches high. It’s not the kind of screen that you can use when the fireplace is lit. Stained glass will not withstand that kind of heat, but it’s a wonderful example of decorative stained glass and it has succeeded in bringing my very fashionable but rather lifeless living room to life.
